What is homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of natural healthcare that has been around for over 200 years. It is a holistic and very personalised therapy – it treats the individual, rather than the condition. So five people suffering flu symptoms might need five different homeopathic remedies depending on their symptoms and characteristics.
How does it work?
The basic principle of homeopathy is that “like cures like” – this means that if a large amount of a substance produces symptoms in a person, then a very small amount of the same substance will cure them. For example, one of the remedies used in homeopathy is Allium Cepa which is prepared from onion. Many people struggle with watery eyes and a runny nose when slicing onion. If you get these symptoms during a bout of hayfever then Allium Cepa can be used to help relieve the symptoms.
Is homeopathy for me?
Homeopathy is a safe, gentle medicine that can be used by anyone of any age including babies and pregnant women. It is used to treat both physical and emotional conditions. It can be used for illnesses that last only a short time – such as a cold, food poisoning or period pain – and also for conditions that have been around for a while such as allergies, asthma, depression, anxiety. It can be used alongside conventional medicine.
